ROC-Light

The ROC-Light license is a beginner license that allows you to fly commercial drones. During the course you will learn everything related to the laws and regulations involving the commercial use of drones. For example, you can not fly more than 100 metres in distance or above 50 metres in height. There are also distance restrictions concerning, for example, roads and buildings. Plenty to take into consideration!

You're allowed to fly commercial drones up to 4 kilos if you meet a number of requirements. In order to use your drone for commercial purposes, the following items are required for you to request the ROC-L license:

  • Proof of registration for the drone
  • Liability insurance
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience (drone certificate)

As a pilot you must have sufficient aeronautical knowledge. For this reason, it's mandatory to complete a drone exam before you can fly a drone. The mini-drone training gives you the necessary knowledge (theory + practical) to prepare yourself becoming a commercial drone pilot.

Phased plan:

There are a number of steps that must be taken before you have successfully completed the ROC-Light course.

Step 1

Step 2

During the theoretical day you will learn all the ins and outs about what is and what isn't allowed when you fly a commercial drone.

Step 3

The theoretical lessons (1 office day) is followed by half an office day of practical training. During this practical training you will fly drones yourself and learn which items to take into account as a drone pilot.

Step 4

Once you've completed the theoretical part and the practical part, the final step is the exam! When you successfully complete the exam, you can apply for your ROC-Light permit at the Dutch civil aviation authorities. (IL en T)
