RPA-L

The RPA-L drone training is developed  for everyone who wants to fly drones in a commercially environment under an ROC licensed company . This is a recognised training package according to the Regulation for remote controlled aircrafts. This course includes 4 days of theoretical lessons. including the theoretical examination. and 2.5 days of practical training including the practical examination. 

You will be trained to fly drones, basically in all classes of Dutch airspace. It is possible (depending on the level of experience) to get with this licence exemptions to fly beyond several  restrictions, (e.g. EVLOS operations).

Of course, you need to take into account a number of additional factors. For example, you must use a technically approved drone and be in possession of an operational manual. The operational procedures of the company (ROC holder) you operate for must be described in this operational manual.

Phased plan:

There are a several steps that you have to take before you can successfully complete the RPA-L course.

Step 1

Book the course on a date of your choice. You'll follow a theoretical course which will take 3 days, this course finish with a 2 hrs theoretical exam.

You'll follow a 2-day practical course, followed by a practical exam.

Step 3

You must apply for and complete an LAPL medical exam (Light Aircraft Pilot Licence)

Step 4

Once you've successfully completed your theory exam, practical exam and the LAPL assessment, you can apply to the ILenT for your RPA-L certificate.

Training RPA-L

RPA-L is the basic training for an professional drone pilot. Once you've completed this training, you will receive the RPA-L certificate. Drone Flight Academy (Part of Drone Flight Company) has been certified as an RPA-L training facility by IL en T (Inspection Environment and Transport). This certification can allow you to fly a drone of up to 25 kg under VLOS and EVLOS categories H, A and OA.

Factsheet regulation drones

If you want to become a professional drone pilot, you can apply for one of our RPA-L drone training courses. This course will take 4 office days, including 2.5 days of practical training and the drone exam. The theory exam is also included in these days. The classes have a maximum of 15 participants and we start with the theoretical part. Learn about air law and regulations, how a drone technically operates and you'll learn about aviation meteorology. Flight preparation is also discussed. 

When the theoretical part is finished, you will learn basic techniques under the guidance of one of our experienced drone instructors. Once you have mastered the basics, the instructors will teach you how to handle several emergency situations. These situations are re-enacted and covered extensively so that you will know how to handle if an emergency situation ever occur. The final part of the training is mentioned to train you advanced manoeuvres, in which we focus on working with an observer or sensor operator.

The price for this drone training is:

€3500,- (excl. 21% VAT).

Costs for the RPA-L license, which must be applied through IL en T. Also a medical examination (LAPL) is not included.
