UTC Inspection

The UTC Inspection training is intended for anyone who wants to use drones for inspection purposes, as a pilot or as a payload operator. In the Netherlands, this training is combined with the RPA-L license provided by the ILenT. This ensures that you, as a professional drone pilot, comply with the legal and professional requirements for operating a drone.

The UTC Inspection Training is used to provide professionals with more knowledge about the use of drones for inspection purposes or to improve the existing knowledge. This is combined with a skills training. This training is provided by experienced instructors who provide you with all the necessary skills to fly safely and professionally with drones in industrial environments.

When you have completed the UTC Inspection program, you will receive the UTC Drone Inspection Certificate and the separate official RPA-L license. 

Phased plan:

There are a number of steps that must be taken before you have successfully completed the UTC Inspection program.

Step 1

Sign up for the UTC Inspection program via our website.

Step 2

Follow the training which lasts for 10 days.

Step 3

Complete the UTC test, which consists of a practical test combined with a theory exam.

Step 4

The RPA-L theory exam and practical exam is given by ILenT. After successfully completing your theory exam, practical exam and the LAPL assessment, apply for the ILenT license with your RPA-L certificate.

Training UTC Inspection

During the 10-day UTC Inspection training, you'll acquire advanced skills in the field of conducting inspections using drones. This involves using a wide range of payloads and available systems.

The UTC Inspection training focuses on the following areas:

  • Observation of buildings and constructions
  • Electrical distribution
  • Gas and oil pipes
  • Forestry
  • Cartography
  • Nature conservation

Skills that you will develop during the UTC Inspection training:

  • Selecting the right equipment for the relevant inspection
  • Developing a flight plan and cartography sequence
  • Risk analysis and Risk mitigation measures
  • Extensive knowledge about the M200 series and payloads
  • Thermal images and real-time analysis
  • Cartography with Oblique and Nadier images
  • Inspection of wind turbines
  • Inspection of solar panels
  • Inspection of industrial equipment
  • Inspection of bridges
  • Inspection of high voltage cables and supporting structures
  • Inspection of gas, water and oil pipes
  • Collaborate with sensor operators and other team members
  • RTK functionalities
  • Analysis of flight data using Pix4D, DroneDeploy, etc.
  • DJI Go4 and DJI Pilot apps

The price for this drone training is:

€5350,- (excl. 21% VAT).


Materials to follow the theoretical lessons, examination fees, use of drones coffee/tea, lunch are included in this price.

Costs for the RPA-L license, which must be applied for through ILT. LAPL Medical examination is not included. 

If you unexpectedly need to do an second theory exam the price for this is €150,-

The price for an extra day practical training to build up more flight experience is €500,-
